About this Class
Humans like to feel mentally consistent in the way they think and behave, something known as cognitive consonance. Once a first impression is made, either of yourself or someone else, it’s nearly impossible to override it. Because doing so would cause us to question our ability to make good decisions.
What You'll Learn
We all have hidden biases that shape our world, our day-to-day interactions, and our relationships. We’re hardwired to make split second decisions about people using our past experiences and prior knowledge that we contour into a particular pattern, what are known as schemas.
In this Q&A session, we’ll break down the overlooked biases we have when meeting people. We’ll assess ways to dissect true qualities from assumed ones when you’re trying to assess another person, as well as how to harness the inherent power of biases to overcome social mistakes or slip ups.
“Trust but verify.”
